  • Providing both families and business users with unmet driving experience and best in class running costs
  • Shares major drive train components with award winning Nissan LEAF

GENEVA, Switzerland (6 March 2012) The innovative Nissan e-NV200 Concept makes its European debut today at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.  Based on the popular Nissan NV200 multi-usage vehicle, which is sold across the world, the Nissan e-NV200 Concept previews a near-future production version of a battery electric compact van.

The e-NV200 Concept is designed to provide businesses or families with functional and roomy interior space, while producing zero CO2 at the point of use.  "The Nissan e-NV200 serves as further evidence of Nissan's leadership position in the zero-emission automotive industry," said Hideto Murakami, corporate vice president, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.  "As a potential mass production vehicle, the Nissan e-NV200 Concept would also provide a breakthrough in operating costs management and driving experience compared to current internal combustion engine vehicles."

The production version could offer to both private, dual-usage and business owners a driving range very similar to the Nissan LEAF, combining outstanding cargo space similar to the current NV200 compact van.

The Nissan e-NV200 Concept exterior starts with a foundation of a production Nissan NV200, then adds strong front design cues from the award winning Nissan LEAF.  The wide bonnet is complimented by a large central charging port door, the blue-accented Nissan badge, and sweeping headlights with LED illuminated signatures.  Large front windows and long rear windows area combine with a pair of large glass roof panels to create an airy, open interior environment.

The exterior is painted in a customised colour, following the concept of the Nissan LEAF's Aqua Blue, which expresses a sense of environmental care.

Inside, the Nissan e-NV200 Concept interior depicts a clean, modern Nissan EV identity through use of the EV typical instruments, blue coloured accents and bright interior finish, while also retaining the NV200's strong functional feeling.  The e-NV200 Concept interior also features advanced telematics and a flat C-cluster display that resembles and responds to user input like a tablet computer.

The Nissan e-NV200 Concept shares its major drivetrain components with the 2012 Nissan LEAF.  Silent, zero emission power is supplied is by a lithium-ion battery composed of 48 compact modules and a high-response 80kW AC synchronous motor that generates 280 Nm of torque.

Like the Nissan LEAF, the Nissan e-NV200 Concept offers a highly responsive, easy and impressive driving experience that is superior to what consumers used to expect from traditional, fossil fuel powered vehicles. In addition the e-NV200 Concept offers a level of refinement and silence, complimented by an automatic transmission is rarely offered on small vans.  In line with the Nissan LEAF, the Nissan e-NV200 Concept also offers excellent energy efficiency- a critical factor for any owner.

Currently, intensive evaluations of prototype NV200-based electric vehicles are being carried out in the UK. Trials will continue across European countries in coming months in order to provide real-world feedback from most demanding usage.  Feedback will help Nissan to fulfil exact customer requirements.
